Ceramic Sculpture & Fluid Blown Glass
Capturing Movement
A light airy structure of intertwining shapes. Voluminous open form. Sensations of motion. One can see through it. Enabling fluid reflection and layered shadowing. To perceive the unexpected.
The essence of my work is to capture movement. To highlight the uniqueness of individuals in character/culture and how they interact in a constantly evolving world, like a dance!
My practise reflects my dual nationality and culture Italian/American and born in Paris. As well as being informed by my work as an Interior Designer with architects for 11 years, followed by a diploma in Sculpture, that resulted in commissions of heads in bronze over ten years.
A new direction of spontaneous abstract forms in ceramics with three solo shows, challenged me into a two-year MA at the RCA in Ceramics and Glass 2019-22.
By using blown glass and porcelain, I wish to defy its hard materiality, to convey 3D motion in the round. I wish to enhance the fluid qualities through connections of materials with harmonious tension. I apply an understanding of kinology, philosophy of movement, to interpret kinetic phenomena across scientific, aesthetic and social fields.
My constructional approach in ceramics is one I have developed to defy the sense of gravity of ceramic but also to enhance the handmade quality that gives a uniqueness to each piece and a tension between the individual forms, just like an interactive conversation.
